1st Mar 2010
On the first day of the new financial year the practice is able to announce that February 2010 saw the best sales figures posted since September 2008.
Property Director Aileen McFarlan welcomed the news as another sign of an improving market.
" Our sales have been increasing steadily now for a year. In comparing the period September 2009 to February 2010 with the same period last year we have seen a 40% increase in our house sales. A lot of this is down to a marvellous team effort, being fanatical about client service and doing the basics very well. The fact that there have been so few homes coming to the market across West Fife and beyond has also helped as supply and demand have come into synch. Indeed in some sectors demand now outstrips demand and this has also helped support prices over the period."
With 25 sales confirmed and a good pipeline of viewing activity and sales in negotiation, senior partner Michael Maloco commented that it appeared that the market was improving albeit at a slow pace. He also sounded a note of caution warning that public sector cuts and potential job losses would continue to exert an influence on the housing market.
" The market is better than it was a year ago but it is still quite fragile. There are a number of factors that mean we are still cautious and we continue to urge our clients to be realistic in their aspirations regarding price and to work with us in selling their home."
The practice won The Sunday Times Gold Medal as Best Small Scottish Estate Agent in 2009 and is a Finalist in the Scottish Legal Awards Property Team of The Year category.
